October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
When to Start Screenings
Regular mammograms can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment by catching breast cancer in its early stages. The USPSTF recommends beginning mammograms at age 40 and continuing every other year. However, earlier screenings may be advised based on personal and family history. An order for a mammogram is automatically placed by your Primary Care Provider. Eligible members can now schedule via GHCMyChartSM or by calling the GHC-SCW Hatchery Hill clinic at (608) 257-9700.
