Introducing the PEERS® for Social Skills Group!
PEERS® is an evidence-based social skills program for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) ages 8 to 16 who are motivated to improve their social relationships.
This 14-week in-person class is held at the GHC-SCW Capitol Clinic and taught by our team of trained PEERS® providers who specialize in working with autistic youth. During this class, children will be taught social strategies for making and keeping friends through teaching sessions and role-play demonstrations. The children will also be able to practice these strategies during group socialization activities.
Parents/caregivers are also required to participate, as they will attend separate sessions simultaneously. During these sessions, parents and caregivers will learn how to support their children as they develop their newly-learned strategies to make and keep friends.
PEERS® for Adolescents Social Skills Group Requirements
This class is for children and adolescents ages 8 to 16 who have been formally diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and are covered under a GHC-SCW heath plan.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in this class, please ask for a referral from your child’s primary care provider. The referral will be processed by our Care Management Department.
