May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month

Take this time to do a skin check.

GHC-SCW dermatologists recommend you examine your skin, as well as your children’s and partner’s skin from head to toe. This recommendation is also endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation, as well as the American Academy of Dermatology.Skin cancer appears in all different shapes, sizes and shades. Start by establishing a baseline and then keep track of any new or unusual growths or changes in, color, thickness or feeling (itch, pain, bleeding).Detecting these changes and talking to your provider about them as they occur is very important.

Be proactive about your skin health, including wearing sunscreen and avoiding too much direct sun exposure, so you can safely enjoy a healthy, sunny summer. For dermatology care and clinic information call 608-661-7200.
