Provider Star Ratings

At GHC-SCW, we want our patients to have the best possible experience when they turn to us for care. Our patient experience surveys help us learn how we can improve that experience. Sharing the results of those surveys with the public is part of our commitment to providing the information you need to make important decisions about your health and care.

We recognize that excellent service is key to providing quality health care. That’s why we survey patients to learn about their experiences. This feedback is collected by an external vendor and shared with us so we can see what we are doing well and what we need to improve.

About Our Patient Experience Survey

GHC-SCW is dedicated to providing exceptional care for all our members. To help us achieve this goal, we measure all facets of our patients' experience with their GHC-SCW providers. Our goal is to address service and communication issues unique to the clinic setting. Patient experience feedback is collected and verified by our partner, Press Ganey. For more than 30 years, Press Ganey has been the industry's recognized leader in understanding and improving patient experience. Today, Press Ganey works with more than 26,000 health care facilities to help reduce patient dissatisfaction and improve the quality, safety and experience of care.

We post all comments, both positive and negative, removing the ones containing offensive or malicious language; any information that jeopardizes patient confidentiality or privacy; and comments unrelated to the provider.

We share the survey results and patient comments on the GHC-SCW website to benefit both patients and providers. GHC-SCW displays patient experience data for providers included in our survey process and who have a minimum of 30 returned surveys.

We provide patient experience ratings for GHC-SCW primary care doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Star ratings and comments are available for GHC-SCW providers who have at least 30 patient surveys returned. The more ratings a provider receives, the more accurate and reliable the data is. This ensures that the data we provide are statistically valid.

After a visit to one of our GHC-SCW clinics, you may receive a survey by email or mail within a few days. The survey contains questions about your visit, including the health care provider, which can be a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant that you saw. All the information that you provide is kept confidential.

Your feedback is then used to improve all aspects of the patient experience and help us offer the best care possible.

Only patients seen by a GHC-SCW provider are selected to take a survey. This way we can confirm the results are based only on patients who have actually been treated by a provider at GHC-SCW.

The survey includes the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) CAHPS® survey questions. CAHPS® stands for Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. These questions focus on patient perception on the quality of their healthcare.

Examples of Questions:
  • Did this provider explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
  • Did this provider listen carefully to you?
  • Did this provider seem to know the important information about your medical history?
  • Did this provider show respect for what you have to say?
  • Did this provider spend enough time with you?
  • What number would you use to rate this provider? (0-10)

There are two reasons a provider might not have star ratings.

  • Providers with less than 30 survey responses may not have patient ratings listed on their profiles due to the small sample size.
  • Star ratings and comments are available only for providers who are employed by GHC-SCW.
