The Legacy Continues

Welcome Kevin R. Hayden

After 37 years of outstanding leadership from retiring Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Larry Zanoni, the Board of GHC-SCW conducted an extensive search for the individual to continue the legacy of leadership.  February 2013, following a national search identifying many impressive candidates, GHC-SCW board, staff and members welcomed Kevin Hayden as the new CEO.  Board President Ken Machtan shared his support stating, "Kevin’s background and experience uniquely qualifies him to lead our Cooperative into the future."

Experienced Leadership

Prior to joining GHC-SCW, Mr. Hayden was President of WellPoint State Sponsored Business where he was responsible for the company’s Medicaid managed care business throughout ten states. From 2006 to 2008 Hayden was Secretary of Health and Family Services for the State of Wisconsin where he restructured the Division of Healthcare Finance and co-authored BadgerCare Plus. Hayden also spent a decade as President and Chief Administrative Officer of Dean Health Systems, a 600 plus physician group in Madison, WI with 250,000 members. Mr. Hayden also has experience leading medical groups in Colorado Springs, Superior and Rockford.

"I am very pleased that Kevin Hayden has accepted this position," stated Larry Zanoni, outgoing Executive Director of GHC-SCW. "Kevin has an outstanding track record in the industry. His expertise and leadership will ensure continued growth and quality care for our members."

Mr. Hayden commented, "It is a very humbling honor to be selected as the next leader of GHC-SCW. The non-profit member-sponsored cooperative is an ideal model for providing high quality health care in Madison and throughout the country. GHC-SCW is nationally recognized for clinical and business quality standards and my hope is to build on the achievements of the cooperative’s first 37 years and to lead a great team in continued success."
